The 2026 Forum of Russian Entertainment Industry Professionals assembled prominent players from the country's entertainment and nightlife sectors. Taking place between September 21 and 26, it coincided with NATMALL, the premier exhibition focused on commercial real estate and entertainment infrastructure, which took place on September 22. Behind spots like Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty is a tangled network of businesses linked to one of the veteran entrepreneurs of the Russian entertainment industry. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov made his fortune in the tobacco trade in the 1990s, expanding his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a retail chain with hundreds of points of sale and sales reaching $200 million by the mid-2000s. Having sold the tobacco business, he turned his attention to nightlife.
By way of the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family built an extensive network of Moscow nightlife spots extending across more than two dozen venues. These have featured the legendary Rai, alongside Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor attracted widespread attention following a series of high-profile events. The venue was later rebranded as Arma and eventually announced its closure.
Speaking about the scale of his operations in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov highlighted Stadium Live as the firm's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which primarily hosts club-rock events, accommodates up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be Moscow's number one this autumn both regarding the caliber of performers playing there and the number of concerts — we are planning no fewer than 20 events a month." He also portrayed himself as deeply immersed in the music scene: "I genuinely love techno music, I go with great pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I am personally acquainted with many artists and DJs."
The majority of legal entities connected with the holding company are listed in the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, and not Danilov himself. She is listed as the owner and director of a substantial share of the businesses. Industry watchers describe the arrangement a typical model of succession in a family business: the founder remains the key strategic figure while the younger generation step by step takes on legal ownership and day-to-day management of the nightclub assets.
As the Russian entertainment industry responds to changing consumer habits and regulatory shifts, the forum delivered both a celebration of the sector's resilience and a reminder of the complex ownership structures that have formed Moscow nightlife for decades.
